THEATRE ROLLO was founded in 1972. We functioned the first 36 years as Dance Theatre Rollo, but in the end of 2008 we became a theatre. Over the years, our performances have gradually transformed from dance theatre to physical theatre so we regarded it fit to change our name.

ROLLO is a touring professional theatre that performs all over Finland. Touring performances sum up to around 100 yearly. Our theatre is financed by the Ministry of Education and Helsinki City.

ROLLO creates performances for the whole family. Our tool kit consists of humour, movement and live music. Our performances are all premiers the creation of which is a result of teamwork of the whole artistic crew. Live music that has been exquisitly composed for the purpose plays an important role in our performances.

ROLLO tours widely in Finland every year. We perform in schools and kindergartens, in market squares, streets and concert halls. We have all the theatre technique we need on us. We don´t bargain on the visuality of our performances but create the whole mystical universe of theatre in an empty space. All we need is just the space and some electricity.

Our performers are all skillful and experienced professionals of theatre and music. Our expertise is encountering and handling child audiences as well as creating genuinly interactive performances. After each performance, our performers lead the audience to a breaf discussion of what was seen and experienced.

We respect our audience and want to offer it intellectually challenging and emotionally awakening performances. We believe in the power of laugh regardless of age. Audiences of all ages are offered joy and experience.
